Once you start using candidates to solve advanced puzzles, you will quickly realize that not every answer stands out down in the open. The Hidden Single technique also uses pencil notes, but it\u2019s a bit harder to spot the correct answer compared to Naked Single.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While a Naked Single<\/em> leaves a cell with only one solitary digit, a Hidden Single<\/strong> is masked. The target cell might contain several different pencil notes, making it look undecided. However, when you look at the bigger picture, you will discover that a certain number has only one valid home left in the entire unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Logic Behind the Hidden Single Technique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Why do we call it “Hidden”? Because if you look at the cell by itself, it looks crowded with options. But if you shift your focus to the whole row, column, or 3×3 block, you will see that a specific number appears as a candidate only once<\/strong> in that entire area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
